Shadow Money

It is 1968, and Sharon Brinton is on a private mission on the far-from-swinging coast of Cornwall.  She meets short-sighted no-hoper bookworm Charles Hollingsworth, who also seems to have a covert reason for staying at the same inn.  When Sharon finds the body of the local poacher and ne'er-do-well her mission and Charles's clash like opposing currents, but that's nothing to the tide-race kicked up when they reluctantly join forces and fall foul of local landowner Jewan Canarthan, his decidedly witchy girlfriend, Annis, and a brash American mining-engineer with a shady past and more money than sense.  Sharon and Charles start hares, trip over red herrings, follow their noses to the wrong conclusion, and ultimately find that while a fool and his money are easily parted, a golden key doesn't necessarily open every door.
