Meet a Body

Who said the dead don't come back to life?  When orphaned farmer's daughter Wynne Preston finds a grisly human relic on the old railway line at the bottom of her garden, the discovery plunges her into a nightmare . . . and into love with the chief suspect.  Then a second body is found at decaying mansion Arrathorne House, and, unbelievably, a third; and Wynne and Nicholas find themselves in a plot to dupe the local council--especially as one of the bodies is thousands of years old, and appears to be of the wrong sort of national significance.  As for Arrathorne, its restoration both underpins and embodies (sorry) this Gothic horror-story turned pastoral idyll.
